The Decade In Review, Part I of II.

This is proving much more difficult to summarize than I expected... but I will catch up with the posting I've missed.

2000-2004 )

I'm more than willing to flesh out anything that's only touched on or coyly implied, assuming anyone takes an interest in my tangled history. I'm an egotist, "me" is one of my favorite discussion topics, and I have very little sense of privacy.

Writing update.

I haven't posted any of The Hellion Prince in a while, and unfortunately I'm not likely to in the next couple of weeks, because I have another chapter to write - and I think it has to be the first chapter, which is going to mean spot-editing everything else.  There are several characters who need to be established earlier than I've got them now, and several pieces of exposition that will come much less awkwardly if I slip them in while Damarhis and his friends are telling one another ghost stories than if I cram them in just before the scene where the audience needs to know about them.

A Stain Upon His Hands is going only marginally smoother - I've figured out how to frame the chapters, as alternating supporting character perspectives with Jordan's wasn't going to be functional this time around (now they need full chapters of their own) - but the setting I'd planned for Chapter Two won't work, much to my dismay.  The disadvantage of researching when you're writing a book is that occasionally you puncture your own conceits and plot points on cold hard reality.

Currently, I'm researching the short story tentatively titled The Mutilation of the Hermai, which is about the Cthulhu Mythos impinging on the Athens of Socrates, Aristophanes, Plato, and Alcibiades.
