So the other day I posted trying to figure out what should go into "caster's dust" for a fantasy story - a universal spell component abused as a drug by non-magic users (and some magic users); something that would be complex and expensive to assemble but would not require industrial-age facilities for production. It has to be something that produces a lot of energy when reacted (hence its magical application), and it has to really mess with people (but not kill them) if they ingest/inject/snort it.
After initial consultation with a chemist for likely compounds and groups of chemicals, I have assembled a rough ingredient list, reproduced here partly for my own amusement and partly so that if anyone reading this has chemistry expertise, they could advise me if this concoction would react with itself when stored as a mix of powders, and/or if it would just fucking kill someone if they tried to get high off of it.
( The list )
