Fiction can fix my brain.
Sep. 2nd, 2010 02:33 amAfter a week-long run of productivity and energy, I've been having a week of lethargy and frustration. Still am, really, but at the moment I feel blissed and optimistic after re-reading Zot! by Scott McCloud, a recently-reprinted 80s superhero comic in which a teenaged superhero from an ideal parallel universe and a pessimistic girl from our new york fall in love and explore one another's worlds. It moves and inspires me like almost nothing else I have ever read, while at the same time rendering me cheerfully depressed in the certainty that I will never be the genius writer Scott McCloud is.
Has anyone else read it? I really want to talk about it with someone, and can scarcely locate anyone who's even heard of it.
