Preparations.
Oct. 21st, 2011 12:48 pmGetting ready for the second weekend of my pharmaceutical study, so you won't see me around between now and Sunday evening at the earliest. My mundane life is, well, still mundane -- dishes have been washed, bills have been paid, I have struggled mightily with the dilemma of whether to have leftovers for lunch or order out for a sandwich...
Writing still going somewhat unevenly. I'm very happy to have been commissioned for another story, and have spent my morning doing 'market research' and brainstorming. I haven't started my Cthulhu Christmas story yet, but I intend to have the rough draft finished no later than Nov. 1st; and so leave myself with a month to edit.
Last week I brought 8 books with me into the pharmaceutical study, and had nothing to read after lunchtime on Saturday, so this time I'm bringing 17 books. That ought to keep me. I'm also going to try for 2k words of fiction instead of my quota-prescribed 1500, which OUGHT to be easy enough, but please harass me about it so that I report either my triumph or my shame to y'all. You readers keep me more motivated than anything else -- even caffeine.
Let's see. What else do I have to report to you? Next week I have someone knew joining my Star Wars game, so I'm going to have the promised summary posted before then -- yet another thing to write up over the weekend, I suppose. Spending next weekend in Bismarch, at a friend's wedding -- someone I haven't seen in years, so I'm very much looking forward to it.
The front of my current notebook has written on it, in shiny silver letters, a promise:
And now, I'm going to tell you something Really Cool.
Apparently it works for both Gene Wolfe and Steven Brust, so hopefully it will work for me as well.
