First of all:  thank you, Mysterious Stranger, for the paid account time!  Not at all sure what I have done to earn it but it's always appreciated!

What else is there to report? I've been playing a lot of online poker for pretend money, and am beginning to realize my consistent winning is probably not entirely luck -- every single time I play, I end with more money than I started.  If I had money I could afford to lose, this is the point where I would probably start trying my luck with playing for real money.  Alas, I do not.

Read a few things in the last few days that got me thinking, quite randomly, about Superman.  Most notably, this hilarious summary of the Death of Superman by filmmaker Max Landis.  While the summary itself is hilarious enough for anyone -- whether you know Superman or not -- playing spot-the-famous-person cameo goes from amusing to amazing when Elijah Wood shows up.

Superman is an interesting character in that, as far as I can tell, there are only one or two kinds of interesting story you can tell with him.  That's to ask the question "what kind of problems can unlimited power not solve?"  or I suppose, "how does having a perfectly moral character affect your problems and life choices?"  There are a lot of brilliant Superman tales that showcase these themes... and a lot of other Superman comics that basically just show him punching things a lot.  Sigh.

The writing goes apace.  I ought to have a couple short stories and a couple more chapters of The Hellion Prince this month, but most of my wordcount has been going to the upcoming LARP, which is looking to turn out fantastic and ahead of schedule for once.
