Ugh.

Posted 550ish more words of Mutilation of the Hermai this morning, and did a lot of research on women in Classical Greece so I could do Xanthippe justice (verdict's out on how much I succeeded). Spent the first part of the afternoon typing up previously handwritten bits of Hellion Prince, so my wordcount hasn't really gone up since noon, but I've been productive nonetheless.

Which is good.  Yesterday I had a not-great job interview (did I already mention that?) that more or less caused me to write off the rest of the day, and is why I went to bed so early.  Today, I found a MUCH more promising opportunity; I have yet to test for it but I'm excited at the notion of it, it pays well, and the hours are fantastically convenient, if a little on the lean side.  Wish me luck!

Now, though, I'm having a bit of a caffeine crash - partly because I've already been awake for fifteen hours, and partly due to not eating dinner yesterday... wow, I just realized I've had nothing to eat but a tuna sandwich  and an ice cream sundae in the last twenty-four hours... but mostly because I just had a Hell of a workout.

I live in a third-story apartment with a balcony.  Since my roomies and I came back from our respective Christmas vacations, our balcony has been buried six feet deep, or deeper, in packed snow - we would have cleared it, but we realized it insulated us well enough that we haven't once needed to turn on the heat in the main room.  However, the last week or so we've noted that the balcony was visibly sagging - so today I threw on several layers of clothing and burrowed up and out, tunneling and climbing and generally throwing several hundred pounds of snow off the side of the building.  It's still a minimum of four feet deep everywhere, and of course compacted worse than ever, but hopefully it should help, it was a lot of fun, and Sweet Jesus, I obviously needed the exercise- I finished what I could at three, promptly collapsed into this chair, and still have an elevated heart rate.  Ugh Ugh ugh.

Today has been a mixed blessing.  I'm looking forward to the rest of it.
