Stuck on a scene...

... in The Hellion Prince.  Damarhis needs to have a conversation with a priest about practical theology, and I'm torn between using an existing character (who the audience did not know was a priest) and introducing someone new.  If I introduce someone new, they never get used again.  If I use an existing character, the scene does double duty as foreshadowing and building character interaction... but it also feels awfully damned convenient to have him stumble across a familiar face.  And he *might* be less forthcoming talking to someone he knew, who could assemble the context of the conversation he's trying to obscure.

Thoughts?

Are you 100% certain that you will never need the new character ever again? Could this possibly be a chance to establish a character you can later reference or use in some way?

I guess just sketch it out both ways and whichever does more in service of both character and plot keep.

Is Damarhis too reticent with the known character? Is it really *too* convenient? Does it build a new/different/interesting element to the relationship?

Does the new character take too much space to establish? Does the amount D. reveals justify the space? Can this new character be used for world-building or possibly as a foil for the later reveal of the priest character?

Utterly unhelpful, I know.
