Back-Burnered Projects

Only one novel, thank god (not counting collaborations-- er, next post?).  Enterrado is a western vengeance-epic, played straight, with a few modern twists and questions of trust and self-construction of identity.

Short stories, on the other hand... well, here are just the ones I have done a fair amount of work on and expect to be able to finish.

And I'm very open to suggestions about which of these people would be most interested in seeing first.

ETA:  And something went deeply weird with the formatting here somewhere along the way, but it still looks readable to me and anyway I have no effing idea how to fix it.  One of my favorites of these stories, Perils Worse Than Dragons, seems to be hidden under one of the Trimalchio's Tale cut-tags even after cutting, pasting, and re-formatting the whole second half of the post.  Oh well.  Click the cut-tags and read, and it'll all be fine.

Hm.  Maybe I should post excerpts?

Making 2300-ish words overall, depending on where I count it as starting within Knight of the Star, and in another 2000 at most I should be done.  And since this is my off week for gaming, after tonight I will have the whole week's worth of evenings to focus on it with fewer distractions.

I think this month I have been a lot more reclusive and withdrawn in a lot of ways (obviously not in my posting here, but in commenting, role-playing, spending time with friends) due to my focus on writing.  It's a trade-off, and not exactly a conscious decision.  It's letting my preoccupations and obsessions overpower the rest of my life.  Or, well, it's letting my vocation take center stage in my life.

I'm not sure how okay with that or not okay with that I am.

ETA:  And 37 words later, I have written precisely 10,250 words so far this year.  An average of a little over 425 words per day.  In one month, somewhere between one third and one half of what I wrote all last year.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty okay with it now.
