Do people talk about Heavy Metal like it's some sort of genre classic, rather than a pathetic, poorly done adolescent male rape fantasy?

Seriously.  I will never get back the last ninety minutes of my life.

Goodness. I'm glad I've never got round to watching it, then.

As to the why... I suppose because there are a lot of pathetic men who've never stopped liking adolescent rape fantasies, and some of them happen to be critics and other influential people? (Rhetorical question, I know. ;-)

...really, if you haven't, don't bother. it's not so bad that it's good, it's just BAD. there are so many better things to do with your time.

BECAUSE it's cheesy and awful and poorly done. It's more "cult classic" than genre classic, kinda like RHPS. And on top of that, it's got heavy metal music and Ralph Bakshi. Very few animated films can boast that combination.

You'd probably like the heavy lampooning it gets in South Park.
