No job yet, but i'm getting more callbacks, more interviews, and the financial stress has abated a little.  My writing progress has been irritatingly diffuse - 500 words today on a long-abandoned project, Night Class, a gay supernatural romance where the vampire isn't pretty, the werewolf is refined and sophisticated, the protagonist does not have uber-special magic powers, and any genre trope I could think of is commented on and/or subverted.  I want to be writing Hellion Prince, but I do have to admit I had a lot of fun getting those two pages down this morning.

Um. *makes 'gimme!' hands* This sounds amazing and so much fun. :D I think having a back up thing to work on is good--I have a Red Riding Hood thing that I poke whenever I'm stuck. When it gets to that point, I don't care which file the writing is in once the words are coming.

I think my worldbuilding may even have the vampires and werewolves be science fictional rather than fantastic - that is, the explanations for how they do what they do will not be 'magic' or supernatural, but will have explanations that involve actual biology and physics, in unlikely/impossible applications.

This week has been ridiculously crazy, so I'm only on Chapter Two of TWFF and will probably not be done until NEXT weekend at the earliest.

Haha, if the werewolves ever does become an actual book, I have to thank M in the acknowledgements for that evening we spent two hours hashing out a scienfic background to my werewolves shapeshifting. It ended with him adding, somewhat anxiouisly, "Just... you know werewolves aren't real, right?"

Sometimes it does work to have an arts geek and a science geek under the same roof!

It's both satisfying and aggravating. because it was an orphan project that has now developed a full plot for a longish short story, and there are at least three other projects I should be working on, if not more... but at the same time, my snarky love-hate relationship with the supernatural romance genre is making it an absolute riot to work on.
