Today has been declared a day for doing nice things to Megs, as you should all know. First, however, a little background. The root of the name is Greek, although "Megan" in all its spellings is specifically Welsh, and it means "pearl." So, I submit for your consideration three examples of just why Megans, Meghans, and Meaghans are so damn awesome.

In alphabetical order by username, we start with [livejournal.com profile] elf_amazon. One of her most sterling attributes, of course, is that she puts up with my shenanigans, and is the love of my life, but I would not settle for just anyone, you know. Megan is the most caring person I know, compassionate and protective with a kind of relentless energy that can, at times, even be scary. She's much better at writing and drawing than she gives herself credit for- she understands people, and her fiction and role-playing show it. She is always attentive and appreciative of her friends, and so it's the very least I can do to return the favor.

[livejournal.com profile] meg_mccormack works harder at producing fun than anyone else I know. Every post she makes, it seems, references some new endeavor, some activity she's either taking part in or organizing, and my mental picture of her daily life is a constant romp crossed with an epic quest, full of fun but totally exhausting. I'm ashamed to say we don't talk as much as we used to in the good old days of LJ RPGs, and thus I'm not certain just how accurate this image is, but I'd very much like to know, and to contribute to at least one day's madcap antics. Meg, if you ever have a crazy scheme that needs a co-conspirator (or if you want in on one of mine- and I has plenty), let me know.

[livejournal.com profile] startramp, formerly runcible, formerly emjay, formerly meghanjinx, is a girl of talents at least as numerous as her usernames- a writer and a poet, though best known for her art. She multitasks like an octopus, with a creative output and a degree of originality I very much envy. She's thoughtful, wise beyond her years, and not afraid to voice her complaints. ALSO SHE JUST POSTED THE NEXT PAGE OF SELF LOATHING OH MY GOD SCORE. I have long since adopted her as one of my honorary sisters, and am always proud to have her in my family. In short: awesome.

Two minutes overdue, but hopefully still acceptable to this triumvirate of terrific.

*gentle hug, resting my chin on your shoulder to murmur in your ear* That was extraordinarily sweet, thank you. I hope to God I've done as fabulous a job of showing how much I appreciate you. I love you so very much... and am so poor at showing it sometimes... forgive me... I can't find the right words... there's nothing grand enough, awful enough, glorious enough, to tell you how much you brighten my life with your sheer presence in this world. Just knowing you're there, all those miles away... the gorgeously brilliant star of my heart. It's enough to make me cry in joy.

See.... *hugs*.... I would think by making a post in which I talk about how much you appreciate and care for those around you, you'd get that you do indeed show it, love, and that I know very well how much you love me. *gentle teasing*

*hides my face against your chest for a moment* But you're not just someone around me. *trembling slightly* You're the earth, the depths, the heavens to me. And if I can't communicate that... *shakes my head a little* I'm not trying hard enough. Don't ever let me neglect you. Promise?

You did communicate that, and you do, always, dearest. The idea of you neglecting me is so ridiculous I can't encompass it in words, it makes me roll my eyes- I didn't say "relentless energy" for nothing. I have never, ever in the least felt anything close to neglected by you. Mothered, yes, ;-P. Neglected, no. And like a Lost Boy, I need a mother sometimes, so don't you go assuming that's a bad thing, or I shall be wroth. And possibly vexed, too. ♥

Oh wow, that is the *best* thing I have ever read about me (and I've gotten to see the recs people wrote to get me into college). It's so spot on (or, at least, spot on how I imagine my own life, it's not quite always like that). Thank you thank you thank you! :D

There will be schemes. You will be involved. It's a deal =)

Mwahahaha. LJ did not email this comment to me, but I found it anyway.

While we are speaking of schemes, did you see my Zeitgeist Comics posts?

Is that the comic strip you've been working on or something else?

Somethinmg else! I wrote a couple of manifestos about superhero comics, and then began a madcap scheme to found my own imprint...

Currently I'm still working on some background for the world- me and an elite team of writers (okay, um, two guys I know) are hashing it all out on a facebook group. If it sounds like yous cup of tea, you're absolutely invited to join the team- if not, there will be other schemes, I can wait.

Ooh, I love those! I'll have to think about them more because I've got about a gazillion stories all vying for head space right now (not to mention all that schoolwork stuff to do... yeah.) but it sounds really cool!

Want me to invite you to the facebook group? So far we're only working on White Company, but I have three other titles cooked up... you can mostly observe, and participate as you have time/inspiration. *nod*
