So there's a bit in this latest chapter of The Hellion Prince -- not the one that is almost ready to post any day now I swear, but the one after that -- that has me stymied. And I could use some advice from non-readers or readers who do not mind vague, minor spoilers about the chapter.
Damarhis and some of his fellow brash young peers are going boating with Chrysinthe, looking to see if they can find any faeries or faerie magic near the capitol. I know that they're going to find something, but I have absolutely no idea what. Probably not an actual fey, but some piece of natural magic, likely associated with either wood or water. If possible, I'd like it to be something that can help me foreshadow, build tension, or say something significant in some way about the plot, theme, or characters involved -- to do some structural work, rather than just being a momentary diversion I can hang the action of this chapter off of.
Suggestions and discussion are appreciated, encouraged, and solicited.
