Hospital waiting rooms are boring.

ruby_flu is getting her right kidney removed today, so I'm in the weird Limbo-state peculiar to hospital waiting rooms. The above icon, which she created, is not really indicative of her relentless, ambitious artistic genius, and I don't have words to explain how cool it is to have her as my best friend, or what she means to me, or how stupidly unfair it is for her or anyone to have to deal with something like renal cell carcinoma at 22 (or any other age, but sheesh).

I am, as predicted, worrying because she's unable to (while anesthetized). The operation is pretty straightforward, and the doctors have been confident that they've caught this tumor early enough that after today she'll be as cured as it's possible to be, without even a notably increased risk of cancer later in life.

This post doesn't really have any point, apart from filling my self-perceived daily posting obligation, and the useful service of killing part of an interminable span of time. I feel like I ought to talk at length about just why ruby_flu is my favorite artist, how influential her ideas and collaboration with me have been upon my worldbuilding and approach in both writing and gaming, and a whole host of othe stuff, including just how tasty her bishonen heroes are, but I can't muster the focus for it right now and in any case I'm already over the prescribed time limit for using the waiting room computer.

Aaagh.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's need for surgery, although I'm glad they caught it now and that they're confident about the chances for success.

*gentle hug* It'll be ok. She's lucky to have such a good friend to come down and stay with her through this. I know that she knows it, and she really appreciates it. To be able to wake up and see someone there, worried and relieved to see that you're all right - that's an amazing feeling, and it really helps.
