MADCAP ARCHAEOLOGY SOUNDTRACK, PART II
SHIPPING
And when the rain is beatin' upon the window pane
And when the night it gets so cold, when I can't sleep
Again you come to me
I hold you tight, the rain disappears
Who would believe it
With a word you dry my tears
You can do magic
Jonathy or Naurian singing about the other two.
All For Love by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, & Sting
Now it's all for one and all for love
Let the one you hold be the one you want
The one you need
'Cause when it's all for one it's one for all
ESPECIALLY an Indir song.
I'll be out of my mind
And you'll be out of ideas
Pretty soon
Among other things, it just has the right whimsical sense of wonder sound.
Ingrid Michaelson – Take Me The Way I Am
If you were falling, then I would catch you.
Everyone in this group except Indir really needs someone to catch them. And all of them, even Indir, really needed acceptance.
I have been wrong about you.
Thought I was strong without you.
For so long nothing could move me.
For so long nothing could change me.
Jonathy.
Kings of Leon – Use Somebody
Someone like you and all you know and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street
You know that I could use somebody
Naurian. And the buoyant, slightly giddy sound of it.
How Sweet It Is – James Taylor
I close my eyes at night
And wonder what would I be without you in my life
Everything was just a bore
All the things I did seems I'd done 'em before
But you brighten up for me all of my days
Vessa.
STORY
So hard we try
Sold on your promises
Lay it on the line
Lay out the trauma there for me
Truth is like a fear
Fear of heaven
It also captures the feel of a world where everything is mystery & the answers are most likely forever lost. Plus I love the sound.
Dave Carter – Happytown
Shootin' fools and starry gazers, wizard hip and button down I walk the Occam's razor streets through priests and circus clowns Am I a missioner of faith or grace or vision or Another grinning prisoner of Happytown
Dave Carter's particular brand of American mysticism has been very influential for me since

Nobody Knows – Hero's Come Back
A far away voice clues me in
One after another, comrades prepare to battle
No more doing the same stuff over and over,
We're gonna turn that mess inside-out, ARE YOU READY?
My body shivers straight to the core
The energy rings out like violent STOMPING
It CALLS ME unrelentingly
This is an unstoppable comeback STORY
Mostly just atmospheric. The jubilant sound, the elated, victorious feel.
Oh reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you
Incongruity and chaos are essential ingredients, too. Plus writing fight scenes to this song is just more amusing.
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
Yeah, this one's just a gratuitous cheap shot about Flux storms.
WORLD
The Mountain by Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer
Some build temples and some find altars,
some come in tall hats and robes spun fine.
Some in rags, some in gemstone halters,
some push the pegs back in line.
Captures the sense of fairytale wonder I'm going for. And inspires me in general whenever I write. And... Dave Carter, man.
I answer to the fading voices trolling the night roads
I will never forget about you
On this road of unfulfillment, I still stand alone
Not sure what it is about this one, other than that it's loud and overwhelming and I really like it.
Memory of Fanelia (Escaflowne)
Can't post lyrics because it's instrumental. But I listen to it and think landscapes.
Princess Mononoke OST - Ashitaka Sekki
Landscapes and travel.
dot hack sign soundtrack – The World
There are lyrics, but again, it's just the sound. Sweeping, lush, overwhelming.
Madoka Magica OST - Credens Justitiam
Dog Latin. I'm sure you'll once again be shocked to find out the lyrics are not what I look at when I'm thinking about setting.
Conveys a sense of motion and urbanity for the parts of the story set in settled areas.
And that's all I've got.
As ever, I'd love to hear thoughts and reactions, either on the soundtrack or just the songs.
