It also captures the feel of a world where everything is mystery & the answers are most likely forever lost. Plus I love the sound.

Dave Carter – Happytown

Dave Carter's particular brand of American mysticism has been very influential for me since

glimmerbulb introduced me to his music.  Seriously, go have a listen.

Mostly just atmospheric.  The jubilant sound, the elated, victorious feel.

Incongruity and chaos are essential ingredients, too.  Plus writing fight scenes to this song is just more amusing.

Yeah, this one's just a gratuitous cheap shot about Flux storms.
 

 

WORLD

The Mountain by Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer
Some build temples and some find altars,
some come in tall hats and robes spun fine.
Some in rags, some in gemstone halters,
some push the pegs back in line.
Captures the sense of fairytale wonder I'm going for.  And inspires me in general whenever I write.  And... Dave Carter, man.

Not sure what it is about this one, other than that it's loud and overwhelming and I really like it.

Can't post lyrics because it's instrumental.  But I listen to it and think landscapes.

Princess Mononoke OST - Ashitaka Sekki

Landscapes and travel.

dot hack sign soundtrack – The World

There are lyrics, but again, it's just the sound.  Sweeping, lush, overwhelming. 

Madoka Magica OST - Credens Justitiam

Dog Latin.  I'm sure you'll once again be shocked to find out the lyrics are not what I look at when I'm thinking about setting.

Urban Trad – Berim Dance

Conveys a sense of motion and urbanity for the parts of the story set in settled areas.

And that's all I've got.

Your writing-music tastes are closely aligned to mine, though I didn't have the Madoka Magica soundtrack and am now downloading it.

Do you have the Okami soundtrack? I find I write to that a lot.

I do not. I'll make a point of looking it up; I've seen the game played but it has been long enough that I can't call it to mind.
