Jan. 28th, 2010 12:23 am2 more job applications submitted today, and 1000 words of fiction written - about 675 on Hellion Prince, and 375 on a very different take on the sci-fi story I brainstormed and started the other week. I was stuck, so I thought I'd try the same world with a different approach - one character, tightly focused, rather than a small passenger liner full of people. I started trying to make the character's voice distinctive, and somewhat against my will found that he was dictating the narrative to me in rhythmic, alliterative, slant-rhyme heavy free verse. It's distinctive, and I think interesting, but it's exhausting to do and I don't know where in Hell it came from, unless it was the raspberry coffee I drank today.
In any case, I'm behind on blogging but a full three days ahead of quota for writing. And I hope to get even further ahead, until my previous goals vanish behind me. We'll see.
